Visitor's Gallery - Edward Fahrenkrug's 1978 King Cobra

Owner:   Edward Fahrenkrug
Year:   1978
Make:  King Cobra
History:  Here are some pics of my 78 King Cobra. I have owned it for three years now, and don't plan on ever getting rid of it(isn't that what we all say?).

In September 1998 while on my way to school, I saw the car sitting in gas station parking lot near a friends house. My friend first pointed out the dark blue King Cobra. That same friend had showed me a picture of a King Cobra in a callender weeks earlier, and I thought it was one the coolest Mustangs I had ever seen. Well, the King Cobra sat in the parking lot for a month, so I decided to go inside and find out what the deal was. The gas station attendent informed me that it was an ex employees car, which had broken down and was left there. He gave me the womans number, and I called only to find out Pick N Pull was about to get it. The owner said the motor was locked up, so I asked her what PNP offered her for the car. She told me $275, so I offered $275 and she accepted the offer. After towing my new found treasure home, I found that the motor was not siezed, but just water locked from a blown head gasket. A $40.00 headgasket set later, and I was driving a nice looking King Cobra for $315. I was also given a folder full of reciepts including one from Red McCombs Ford for a rebuilt short block purchased only a couple of years earlier. On top of a solid original King Cobra, I also got a nearly "new" motor in the deal.

I am currently working on restoring the King Cobra. The motor won't be stock of coarse, but I plan on getting the body and interior as close to original as possible.
